If you work in a public hospital, the hospital language service office will book an interpreter for your consultation with your patient. If you see your Chinese patient in your private practice, you may need to book an interpreter for them.
You may have a mainland Chinese patient eager to seek a second opinion from you. You may have a couple who is coming to your clinic for fertility treatments. You the consultant wants to help them with your medical knowledge and skills. You would like to ask your patient some questions, and also read the test results and imaging reports their doctors in China have performed, so you don’t have to start from scratch.
